Prince of Pettibonia

The King and Queen of Pettibonia proudly announce the soon arrival of the new Prince of Pettibonia. Here's a glimpse of him:

The video rotates around him, ending with his face in profile on the left side of the frame, showing his nose and lips and right eye.

Down the Blackwater River

Last weekend we went with a group of friends canoeing down about nine miles of the Blackwater River Canoe Trail.
We were 17 people (including kids) and left late Saturday afternoon, camped on one of the beaches along the way, and continued the longer portion of the trip on Sunday.

Getting everything packed into the canoes.

On our way down the river.

We set up camp after only one hour of paddling.

Sunday.
All packed up, after a good breakfast we are on the river again

We saw a few turtles, big spiders and a little waterfall along the way.

Taking a break on a sand island in the river.

Last Weekend

Last weekend on the beach.

"It's windy today. I'll just tuck my hands in and walk a little faster."
(see below)

We were surprised to see the impact Hurricane Ike had on Pensacola Beach. Ike had washed some dunes into the picnic area and parking lot we had used two weeks ago.
For you to compare, we show the pictures from two weeks ago on the left and the ones we took last weekend on the right.

New Orleans before Gustav

In August Karen came to stay with us for about three weeks. Her second weekend with us we took her to New Orleans.

The Saint Louis Cathedral was open, so we went inside.

For lunch we found Bennachin, an African restaurant in the French Quarter serving food from Cameroon and Gambia. We enjoyed it very much.
