Many of you have asked us how our little bird babies were doing. Finally here is the rest of the story.
Just a few days after the last post we took these pictures and were happy to see Elfriede and Irmgard developing into cute little birds with soft feathers.
We were not as fortunate to see them leave the nest, as we had done with Volkmar. One day we noticed the parents didn't come to the nest to feed their chicks anymore. When we peeked into the nest, we found that Elfriede and Irmgard had left the nest and discovered that Günter had never hatched.
Later that week I saw two young Carolina Wrens chasing each other in our backyard.
We trust Volkmar, Elfriede and Irmgard are doing well and hope we'll see the girls breeding around our house next year (maybe bringing up one of Volkmar's kids).
