Tuesday in the DDR Museum

It had snowed in the morning and our way to the DDR Museum (museum about life in East Germany) led us through a white winter-wonderland.

Here we are at the museum. The middle picture shows the East German emblem and in the background you can see one of the lamps used in the Palast der Republik (Palace of the Republic, the former seat of the East German parliament). On the right you see us in a Trabi (short for the most used East German car, the Trabant).

Below you see the Sandmann (on the left with the white hair and the goatee) and his friends Schnatterinchen the duck, Pittiplatsch the gnome and Herr Fuchs the fox. They came on TV each evening to wish you good night and sprinkle sand into all the children's eyes, to make them sleepy. On the right you see a kit for building typical East German toy houses.

Here we are in the living room watching one of Erich Honecker's speeches on TV.
