From Berlin to Budapest

Budapest

Our flight into Budapest included an aerial tour of the city center, showing the Danube River, the Chain Bridge, the Hungarian Parliament Building, Buda Castle, and many other places that we'd see from a lot closer in the next few days.

We rode an old train from the airport to the Budapest western railway station and walked from there, passing a naked concrete man reclining on a roof, St. Stephen’s Basilica, and the second McDonald’s restaurant to open in a communist country.

Promenade Hotel Hotel room

Our room in the Promenade City Hotel was on the fifth floor, the two windows on the right side under the arch, and we could look down onto the pedestrian-only Váci utca.
